Wrapping up #teamsonictriathlete 2020

2020 is the year to remember. If my memory serve me right it all started from the pool closure from 1st wave in February but we were able to navigate and switch our training to the beach in the morning and maintain a group of 8 - 4 to deal with the group gathering restrictions though 2nd wave in March, we also had a few knowledge delivery webinar session about Data Driven Training and Sports Nutrition, then the restriction was relaxed and the pool was re-opened in May, we were having two months of normal life until 3rd wave in mid-July, all pools closed again and beaches access were block for the entire Summer. We also had to put on masks even outdoor sports at that period of time; Then things were relaxed again in September, pool re-opened again so our training also resumed, beaches were re-opened in November only until this 4th wave began in December, that’s on-and-off across the year of COVID-19 2020!!! In every year, we had a list of races line-up so we map our training and periodization around the races. In 2020, my race list on Google Docs were all marked Cancelled or Postponed, “Training for the race” became “Train to maintain“ or “Training for well-being”.

Lucky enough, some of us able to race IRONMAN 70.3 Thailand and Kyoto Marathon before the World locked down. We are very glad we are all able to navigate around all the restriction and concern, we all able to cope with all the changes around our timing and format of our training. Lucky enough we can put on a Duathlon and Aquathon Time Trial during the time the social atmosphere were relaxed. We are very glad to have the help from Coach David, Coach Andy and Gigi for their passionate and persistent support. We are very glad to have a group of quality people with close and mature communications in this tough time. Most importantly we all healthy and COVID-19 free! (glad to have Dermodacyn!)

Looking ahead for 2021, with the arrival of vaccine, people are optimistic and looking forward the World can be opened up again.

Let’s “Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst”. Remember the mentality when we trained for racing, we trained the swim in rough water, we trained the bike against the wind, we trained the run in the stroking heat; Put this mentality for 2021, we will prevail!

Wishing all of #teamsonictriathlete a great New Year holiday ahead. Look out for yourselves and each others as we continue to navigate, together we prevail!
